The Riddle of Steel (Mining Not Alchemy)

We are now going to spend some time mining Iron and if we can Smelt some steel. We will be focusing on the following Ores and Bars.

Silver High Worth
Iron
Steel
Gold High Worth

Iron Ore and some silver and gold can be easily found in Arathi Highlands . I port my mage up to Ironforge and take a flight path on up to Arathi and get to work. On my way to the flight master I get trained from the mining trainer in old Ironforge. I have a whole buncha drinks and OFF TO ARATHI.

Gold coins won't earn themselves.

You will need to mine all the classic ores if you want to earn the right to make money with Dark Iron Ores. You want to also make your own bars so you can use your mining to help level up your engineering.

Engineering by the way is where I made my second 100K. So I will mention engineering a few times throughout these pages. Engineering is worth it. Both engineering and mining are worth teh grind.

So as I descend into Arathi I see many more dinosaurs and trolls just like I saw in Stranglethorn.
I will make the circuit around Arathi and quest as I am here . Mining the Iron ore every now and then I bump into Silver and Gold ore. I follow the Path in the map below to maximize my profits. I keep what I need for engineering and sell the rest. Keep in mind any Gold and Silver are high worth ores.

Fly around see the sights in Arathi. Its truly a beautiful place. Ride with some friends and maybe take in a battle ground or 2 or 3 while you do the loops of Arathi.

Keep in mind you are close to finishing Classic Mining.

TBC Burning crusade zone Mine All ores: Fel Iron About 14g each, Adamantite Ore 14g. Khorium Ore worth about 100 - 200 gold each.
Wrath of the Lich King zones Mine all ores. Cobalt ore 20g each. Saronite ore 10g each. Titanium ore about 100g each.

Down at the bottom center of the Arathi map is Zidoni. If your level is pretty high rewind the time back to vanilla when this was not a Horde and Ally battle area in the Battle for Azeroth expansion. In Vanilla this was a great Iron mining zone and a place to level.

We are at mining level 100. We will be mining Iron and smelt it into steel if needed until we hit mining level 150.
In and around the Iron you will find a good supply of some tin and some silver.

Keep the silver and if you find it any gold save it and sell it. Once you hit mining level 150 head over the border wall and mine some Mithril in Hillsbarad Foothils.

Now if you look above on the map of Arathi near the top right is a Cave marked with a STAR.

Enter that cave Kill everything that dares to bother you and Mine all that you want inside. It is a treasure trove.

After about an hour of mining , I have a large supply of Iron ore , and a small supply of Gold and Silver. My minng skill is about 135, and I port on back to Stormwind and train up in both Mining and Engineering.

At about mining level 135 you can train to smelt steel bars.
Smelt all the bars that level you up and if needed head out again to get what you need.

Train up if you can to mine and smelt Mithril !

Now even though you cant smelt Mithril you can still mine it. head over to the Burning Steppes and lets mine some Mithril to top your mining skill off at 150 ! Keep mining even after you hit 150, you can smelt the mithril and level up that way. The Steppes are breathtaking.

This is again a grind, I am aware. This is all the more reason you need a supportive guild. BUT Mining in this zone will prepare you for later mining for Dark Iron ore. Dark Iron ore is a near end ore for Vanilla wow. Its a pricy ore and can be seen in this beautiful zone. Keep up the grind It is worth it.

So the time I spend mining Mithril will be well spent. It will allow me to smelt the Mithril ores and save time mining later. As you head around the circuit of the steppes , pick up any quests and kill any rares you can. Mine mithril for at least an hour and push your mining skill as close to 175 as possible.

Once you hit mining 175 or at least 150 , head back to Stormwind , smelt your ores and then get yourself trained in both Mining and Engineering. The payoff will be down the line

You will find some truesilver ores in this zone. Save them they are of High worth. If you can get a good price sellem. Otherwise bank them.

I do recommend you keep a stockpile of ALL your ores to be used to level up your Engineering.

Engineering is another pricy but great money earning profession.
